Our Animal Friends

Monty

Pepper

Pepper

Monty is our ball python. We know, scary! Monty has been a class pet with Mrs. Haleryn for eight years, and has been safely handled and cared for by many little ones. He is always held by a teacher and has a long legacy of helping kids (and parents!) overcome their fear of snakes!

Pepper is our class hedgehog. She is a nocturnal animal so she's not always active during the day, but when she's snuffling around she is a joy to watch! Pepper helps us practice feeding and cleaning up after an animal!

Biscuit, Grape Nuts, & Muffin

Biscuit, Grape Nuts and Muffin are our school bunnies! They live full-time in our school yard and provide an excellent opportunity for students to learn to care for, handle, and love animals. We give our fruit and vegetable food scraps to these happy gals!

These lovely ladies are our class hens! Our chickens roam around our yard during the day and help us with our waste reduction goals by eating much of our food scraps! We love our hens and the lessons they teach us about gentleness and giving.
